I built CaféRadar, a coffee shop aggregator for Chile. The idea came from my own habit of seeking out good coffee wherever I go — and realizing there was no centralized, map-based way to find specialty cafeterías across the country.

What it does

CaféRadar is a discovery platform for coffee lovers. Anyone can:

  • Browse cafeterías — Explore a growing collection of coffee shops across Chile, from Santiago to Valparaíso.
  • Search by location — Find cafeterías near you or in a specific neighborhood.
  • Discover new spots — See recently added cafeterías and filter by city or region.
  • Share favorites — Each shop has a dedicated page with address, location, and details.

The platform currently features dozens of cafeterías across the Región Metropolitana and Región de Valparaíso, with more being added regularly.

Tech stack

  • Frontend: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS
  • Backend: Next.js API routes
  • Database: PostgreSQL
  • Maps: Mapbox for location display
  • Hosting: Vercel

Why I built it

I love coffee and I love exploring new cities through their cafés. Chile has a growing specialty coffee scene, but finding good spots was always a word-of-mouth game. I wanted to build something that makes discovery easier — both for locals and for visitors.

It also gave me a chance to work on a content-heavy site with real-world data, geospatial features, and a clean, fast user experience.

Try it

The platform is live at caferadar.cl. If you’re in Chile and looking for your next favorite café, give it a try. The code is open source on GitHub if you want to explore or contribute.
